Something to think about...
"Whereas today's implements are designed with the idea of 'getting a job done quickly,' there was an added quality to the early implements and an added quality to early workmanship too. For, like the nails on a beast's paws, the old tools were so much an extension of a man's hand or an added appendage to his arm, that the resulting workmanship seemed to flow directly from the body of the maker and to carry something of himself into the work." little knob thing
My wife has been wanting me to make some knobs for her. I punched out this one for starters. Lots of room for variation and creativity with these things.

I like it. The artist-blacksmith thing is fun, it usually isn't nearly as time-consuming as bladesmithing (per finished piece), and it appeals to a much wider audience. We "sharp & pointy" fanatics are kind of nutty, really. :)
I agree. I'm trying to branch out more into other areas of smithing, but I'm on the nutty side. Just love sharp and pointy. :)
