"Implements that take their shape directly from their working contact with the substance they are made to deal with often express their purpose in simple and beautiful terms. In the strong hands of a blacksmith, iron is given a vitality that often transcends its use." C. Williams
I'm assuming it's a push tool, the handle looks rounded on the far side. I can see that it has an adjustable stop to determine where on the blade it will scrape. Is the depth adjustable? I couldn't tell. I could see having different cutters for other fullers; wider, shallower, even a multi-groove cutter if it was needed.
BTW, I just got laid off an hour ago, so I'll have more time to do projects. lol...
I think I would try using it to pull, but pushing would work too. I don't think it has an adjustable depth because you probably wouldn't want another tool surface rubbing along the blade.
Sorry to hear about the job thing. Sounds like it's happening all over. Wow. Hope you can find another job soon.
Ok so you just do it until you have the depth you're looking for, I guess you get a feel for it. The Japanese have a similar tool I think it is called a "Sen".
Thanks, I'm pretty sure we'll make it through this too. I wasn't expecting it this quick, and I thought I would have a bit of warning, but that's the way it rolls! But I'm not going to sweat it. I'll have a bit more time to fish with Blake.
