Something to think about...

"Implements that take their shape directly from their working contact with the substance they are made to deal with often express their purpose in simple and beautiful terms. In the strong hands of a blacksmith, iron is given a vitality that often transcends its use." C. Williams

Finished Forging the Little Integral

Couldn't get more process pics because it was night, but I finished forging out that small integral.

I think that your forging is great. I would love to be able to end up with a forging that is that close to final size. I have been making stock removal knives for awhile, your blog has inspired me to have a go at forging. Now that I have tried forging I really appreciate how well your knives look.

Really lovely knife!
What's your plan for the handle?

Thanks, Normson! I'd like to see some of your knives. :)

Thanks, Fabio! I'd really like to put a cholla handle on this one. I have a piece I'm preparing for it.

Todd,

Here is a link to some of my knives/razors. The last two were forged to shape before filing and grinding. All done with hand tools but the hollow grinding. I use a 1X42 sander for that.

Normson, thanks for that link. You do some incredible work! Those razors are awesome. And the last two forged ones came out great! Very impressive. Thanks for sharing. :)

Todd,

Nice job. That's the continuation of the previous post, correct? Love the shape btw.

Normson,

Those straight razors are incredible! Love the work. I would definitely like to see more of it! You should consider a blog... ;)
